7 Leading Universities With Data Analytics Degrees Coming to ODSC East
There are plenty of data science or data analytics degrees available for those looking for a traditional education approach to learning a new skill. Each program has its own unique approaches and merits that are worthy of consideration. This year we’re welcoming some great data analytics degrees education partners to ODSC East. Learn more about these organizations, and the programs they have available, below.
Merrimack College offers two Master’s degree programs, in data science and Business Analytics and Intelligence. Both of these programs are completely virtual and feature a faculty of industry experts, ensuring the skills learned are the skills in demand.
The data science degree was recognized by ValueColleges.com as a top 10 “Best Value Big Data Program,” comprises of eight courses, and does not require a background in coding or statistics. Graduates of this program have gone on to work for organizations like IBM, Capital One, Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Microsoft, and more.
At Boston College’s Carroll School of Management, you’ll find the Data Analytics Sequence, a part of their MBA program. The ubiquity of big data in industry requires that even non-technical candidates have a basic understanding of mathematical modeling. The Data Analytics Sequence is focused on helping BC’s MBA students develop these skills through expert-taught courses with a strong emphasis on hands-on practice with essential tools like R, Python, SQL, and Tableau.
West Virginia University (WVU)
West Virginia University’s John Chambers College of Business and Economics offers a Master of Science in Business Data Analytics (BUDA), as well as several certificates, including Business Data Analysis, Business Data Science, Business Cybersecurity Data Analytics, Business, Cybersecurity Foundations, and Business Cybersecurity Management.
WVU’s BUDA program was ranked by US News and World Report #21 among public online business master’s programs. One of the highlights of the program is the experiential learning project that all students complete. This project has students working with clients or companies and culminates in a C-suite presentation.
Bentley University’s Master’s in Business Analytics program ranks in the top 50 for online analytics programs worldwide and in 2011 was recognized as #11 in Big Data by Top 50 Best Value. Bentley’s MSBA features a seven-course core component as well as six elective tracks (data science, economics, finance, information management, management, or marketing) from which to choose courses. It also has a STEM designation.
University of Kansas Medical Center
At the University of Kansas Medical Center, you’ll find the Department of Biostatistics and Data Science, whose mission is to “provide an infrastructure of biostatistical and informatics expertise to support and enhance the research, service, and educational needs of the University of Kansas Medical Center and its affiliates.”
The Master of Science in Applied Statistics, Analytics & Data Science is a fully online program that is designed for working professionals and features a flexible format with synchronous and asynchronous content led by credentialed, experienced faculty.
Northeastern University’s College of Engineering is the home of the Master’s in Data Analytics Engineering. This in-person program prepares its students for jobs in industry and for the research experience and analytical skills required for doctorate programs. This 2-year program can be taken either full- or part-time.
Western Governor University’s online Master’s in Data Analytics Degree Program helps prepare its students for a career in Machine Learning, Database Applications, Data Science and Analytics, Data Management, and Data Mining. Students finish the program with a Capstone Project comprising a technical work proposal, the proposal’s implementation, and a post-implementation report.
