Announcing the First ODSC Europe 2020 Virtual Conference Speakers
ODSC’s first virtual conference is a wrap, and now we’ve started planning for our next one, the ODSC Europe 2020 Virtual Conference from September 17th to the 19th. We’re thrilled to announce the first group of expert speakers to join.
During the event, speakers will cover topics such as NLP | machine learning | quant finance | deep learning│data visualization│data science for good│image classification│transfer learning│recommendation systems│and much, much more.
Here are just a few of the ODSC Europe 2020 Virtual Conference Speakers, with over 140 speakers to attend:
Jiahang Zhong, PhD
Head of Data Science, Zopa LTD
Dr. Jiahong Zhong is the Head of Data Science at Zopa LTD, which facilitates peer-to-peer lending and is one of the United Kingdom’s earliest fintech companies. Before joining Zopa, Zhong worked as a researcher on the Large Hadron Collider Project at CERN, focusing on statistics, distributed computing, and data analysis. Recent research interests include credit risk, marketing, and operational optimization.
Violeta Misheva, PhD
Data Scientist, ABN AMRO Bank N.V.
As a data scientist at ABN AMRO Bank in the Data Innovation and Analytics department, Dr. Violeta Misheva utilizes cutting-edge advanced analytics and machine learning algorithms. Misheva earned her PhD at Erasmus University in Rotterdam, where she studied Applied Microeconomics and researched the causal effect of negative experiences on human capital, education, problematic behavior, and crime commitment. Daria Stepanova, PhD
Research Scientist, Bosch Center for AI
Daria’s research interests include Knowledge Representation and Reasoning with a special focus on the automatic acquisition of rules from structured knowledge. Previously, Daria was a senior researcher at Max Plank Institute for Informatics (Germany), where she was heading a group on Semantic Data.
Jannes Klaas
Data Scientist, QuantumBlack
As a practicing data scientist, Jannes Klaas is a quantitative researcher with interests in economics and finance. Previously he has also led machine learning bootcamps, as well as, working with financial institutions to implement data-driven trading strategies and applications. Additional topics of research include large-scale automated knowledge discovery and systemic risk. During his time at Oxford University, Klaas served as the VP of Education at the Oxford Artificial Intelligence Society, which strives to support and grow the Artificial Intelligence community. Dat Tran
Head of AI, Axel Springer SE
Dat Tran is the Head of AI at the largest digital publishing house in Europe, Axel Springer SE. As the head of the AI unit, Tran strives to increase the accessibility of AI in his company and continually drive innovation. Tran’s interests range from deep learning, AI, and machine learning to computer vision. He is particularly adept at translating use cases into an actual product.
Veysel Kocamon, PhD
Sr. Data Scientist, John Snow Labs
The Senior Data Scientist at John Snow Labs, Dr. Veysel Kocamon has a decade of experience in industry. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Computer Science, with a focus on “learning from small samples and dataset shift” at Leiden University, where he also lectures on Big Data Architecture and Distributed Data Processing.
Alan Rutter
Founder, Fire Plus Algebra
Founder of Fire Plus Algebra, which helps people, and companies, navigate the digital age with a variety of tools, including events, consultancy, and training, Alan Rutter has two decades of industry experience. His specialties include utilizing data visualization to communicate complex subjects. He has worked with several acclaimed organizations and brands, such as WIRED, BBC, the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, and the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council.
