Announcing the Keynotes for ODSC APAC 2022
With just a few weeks until our 3rd annual ODSC APAC Virtual Conference coming up this September 7th-8th, we couldn’t be more excited to announce our Keynote Speakers. These luminaries from industry and academia have won numerous awards, developed new tools and technology, and worked to grow and advance the data science community. Find out more about them below.
Luis Vargas, PhD | Partner Technical Advisor | Microsoft
During his tenure at Microsoft, Dr. Vargas worked on, and coordinated the efforts for, the organization’s AI at Scale initiative. He has also contributed to several other initiatives, including being responsible for the productization of Automated ML and Reinforcement Learning in the Azure AI Platform.
Dr. Vargas’ session, The Big Wave of AI at Scale, will focus on the emergence of increasingly larger AI models, the technology supporting this trend, and its implications.
Ken Jee | Head of Data Science at Scouts Consulting Group LLC | Z by HP Global Data Science Ambassador
In his role, Ken’s focus is on using data to improve the performance of teams and athletes. As an entrepreneur, he also dedicates his time to helping others better understand the field of data science and encouraging people to commit themselves to learning and growing in the field every day.
At APAC, Ken will share his insights on how to improve communication between data scientists and IT decision makers during his talk, Bridging the Gap Between Data Scientists and Decision Makers.
Mary-Anne Williams, PhD | Michael J Crouch Chair in Innovation | UNSW Business School
An award-winning data scientist and educator, Professor Mary-Anne Williams is one of the leading experts in AI, with a special interest in Disruptive Innovation, AI Ethics and Law, AI for Business, and Entrepreneurship. She sits on several editorial boards including those for AAAI/MIT Press, the International Journal for Social Robotics, and the Informational Systems Journal.
At ODSC APAC, Professor Williams will give a talk on Responsible Business AI.
Kerrie Mengersen, PhD | Distinguished Professor, Statistics at Queensland Technology University | Director of QUT Centre for Data Science
Guided by the desire to “use data better,” Dr. Kerrie Mengersen has led more than 30 projects, including the Australian Cancer Atlas, the Virtual Reef Diver program, and the ongoing Long-term Benefits and Impacts Study with Queens Wharf Brisbane. She is also a Fellow of The Queensland Academy of the Arts and Science, the Australian Academy of Science, and the Australian Academy of Social Sciences.
