ODSC West 2021 is just a few short weeks away! This November 16th-18th, with a virtual-only day 0 on the 15th, will feature a number of sessions, training sessions, talks, keynotes, and extra events that will cover everything under the data science and AI umbrella. Below, you’ll find a brief ODSC West schedule with highlights of each day — both in-person and virtual — so you can see what to expect that week.

Monday, November 15th: Virtual Only

For anyone who purchased a bootcamp pass, your ODSC West schedule begins here on day 0. With 3-hour training sessions in both the morning and afternoon, you will start your week off with a bang.

Tuesday, November 16th: In-person and Virtual

Tuesday is when ODSC West 2021 properly opens up, there will be two keynotes, as well as more talks and training sessions, plus the Ai X Business Summit and AI Expo Hall.

Some highlighted sessions on Tuesday include:

ODSC Keynote — Overconfidence in Machine Learning: Do Models Know What They Don’t Know? Padhraic Smyth, PhD | Chancellor’s Professor | UC Irvine

Can we trust the confidence of a model? In this keynote talk, Padhraic will discuss some of the key ideas and research in this area including recent work on prediction confidence and human-AI collaboration.

Ai X Keynote — Building a Better World with AI: Sadie St Lawrence | Founder and CEO | Women in Data

We are living in a pivotal time where the choices we make in technology will create a lasting impact for generations to come. Now is the time to make sure we are creating inclusive pathways for diverse minds to enter the field and co-create ethical algorithms and compassionate AI.

Wednesday, November 17th: In-person and Virtual

Similar to Tuesday, Wednesday’s ODSC West schedule is highlighted by a number of talks, training sessions, demo talks, keynotes, and day two of the AI Expo Hall.

Some highlighted sessions on Wednesday include:

ODSC Keynote — Changing the Narrative: The Importance of Responsible AI and Human-AI Collaboration: Lama Nachman: Intel Fellow, Director of Human & AI Systems Research Lab | Intel

In this keynote, we will discuss Intel’s research in different applications as well as robust and ethical perception utilizing multi-modal sensing and sensemaking, and probabilistic computing.

ODSC Keynote — Powering the Next Generation of Apps with GPT-3, Codex with the OpenAI API: Dom Divakaruni, Group Product Manager, Microsoft Azure at Microsoft | Peter Welinder, PhD, VP, Product and Partnerships at OpenAI

Developers and data scientists used to have a tough choice between easy-to-use but inflexible AI developer services and powerful ML platforms with steep learning curves. Today, there’s an increasing shift to large models like OpenAI’s GPT-3 and Codex.

Similar to the first two days, Thursday’s ODSC West schedule is highlighted by a number of talks, training sessions, and keynotes. We will also be adding the Ai+ Professionals Expo which is virtual only.
