Roche has announced a significant expansion of its digital pathology open environment. It integrates over 20 advanced AI algorithms from eight new collaborators. This move aims to bolster cancer research and diagnostics.

The hope is to provide pathologists and scientists with cutting-edge tools to enhance their workflow and improve patient outcomes. The integration is powered by Roche’s navify® Digital Pathology enterprise software, which now seamlessly incorporates a diverse range of AI-driven algorithms.

This creates easy access to third-party advancements in AI technology, enabling precision medicine and targeted cancer treatments.

New Collaborations to Enhance Cancer Diagnostics

The expansion includes collaborations with companies specializing in AI algorithms tailored for various cancer diagnostics:

  • Deep Bio: Provides algorithms for prostate cancer detection, grading, and tumor quantification.
  • DiaDeep: Offers algorithms for breast cancer biomarker quantification.
  • Lunit: Specializes in tumor proportion score (TPS) analysis for non-small cell lung cancer.
  • Mindpeak: Delivers algorithms for breast biomarkers and pan-tumor PD-L1 applicable to lung, gastric, esophageal, bladder, and breast cancers.
  • Qritive: Offers algorithms for screening and grading of prostate cancer, lymph node metastasis analysis, and colon cancer screening.
  • Stratipath: Specializes in algorithms for risk profiling of invasive breast cancer.
  • Owkin: Provides an algorithm for screening microsatellite stability in colorectal cancer.
  • Sonrai Analytics: Provides an algorithm for determining microsatellite instability (MSI) status in colorectal cancer.

By combining our leadership in tissue diagnostics with a broad offering of state-of-the-art AI technology, we aim to revolutionize cancer research, diagnostics, and treatment, ultimately helping clinicians improve the lives of patients worldwide,” said Jill German, Head of the Pathology Lab for Roche Diagnostics.

A Step Forward in Personalized Healthcare

Roche’s expanded digital pathology ecosystem emphasizes the company’s dedication to personalized healthcare. By enhancing pathology insights through AI, Roche aims to support scientists and clinicians in delivering precise and effective cancer diagnoses.

This advancement not only aids in identifying the most suitable treatment options but also plays a crucial role in improving patient outcomes. The navify® Digital Pathology platform facilitates the integration of these AI-driven algorithms.

This enables pathologists to work with a unified and streamlined workflow. This approach ensures that research tools are accessible in clinical settings, bridging the gap between research and routine practice.
