Virtual or In-Person: Which ODSC West Ticket is Right For Me?
We’ve just wrapped up our second ODSC APAC. Thanks to our attendees, speakers, and partners, we are putting this one down in the books as another huge success! But there is no rest for the wicked, ODSC West is right around the corner this November 16th-18th and we couldn’t wait to tell you about the two different types of passes we are offering for our first-ever hybrid conference: In-person Passes and Virtual Passes. But how do you know which ODSC West tickets are right for you and your team? Don’t worry, we are here to help!
Personal Preference
Can’t wait to pack your bags, hop into a plane, car, or train and meet up with peers and colleagues you haven’t seen in-person in a long time? You might be ready for our first in-person conference since 2019. Loving working remotely and your athleisure? Our virtual passes will connect you with data scientists from around the world without you ever having to put on shoes.
Work Culture
Is your work schedule relatively flexible, or have a strong emphasis on continuous training and employee development? If so, an in-person pass that includes 3 or even 4 days of expert-led, hands-on training might be right for you. If you need some talking points to take to your manager, check out our convince your boss blog or website for useful resources. If your work schedule is more regimented, a virtual pass will enable you to build new skills without ever leaving your home city, eliminating time lost to travel and commute and offering more flexibility.
COVID Comfort
Got your mask, hand sanitizer, vaccine (or planning to get a COVID test), and ready to mingle? All you need to remember to bring is a desire to learn and your laptop. More comfortable staying home and connecting online, ODSC West is the way to go.
Networking
An in-person pass would be a good fit if you connect with peers and colleagues in person better than online. ODSC West will feature several opportunities for you to connect with other data scientists to informally share ideas and insights. If you are more comfortable connecting with others online, ODSC West Virtual will facilitate those connections through chat, open spaces, and other features.
Groups
Whether you choose in-person or virtual, ODSC West is a great way to help your team gel and connect. With the entire team building new skills together, they will have the opportunity to share insights and build on each other’s ideas, helping to get them on the same page and working collaboratively.

The Ai+ Professionals Expo will be virtual only this year. But, don’t worry. You’ll still have a chance to learn about open positions, and perhaps find your dream job, at some of the leading companies in data science and AI.
